Mary Jo Martin works with students, families and school staff to promote health, prevent illness, manage chronic health problems, care for acute illness and injuries and assist with referrals to community health resources.
Working in the Hopkins Public Schools as a licensed school nurse since 1998, Mary Jo became the District Lead Nurse in September 2001. Her academic degrees include: a B.S. in Biology (St. Mary's College, Notre Dame, IN), a B.S. in Nursing (Rush University), and a Master's in Education (Hamline University). In March 2006, Mary Jo earned National Certification as a School Nurse (NCSN) from The National Board for Certification of School Nurses (NBCSN).
An active member of the School Nurse Organization of Minnesota (SNOM) and National Association of School Nurses (NASN), Mary Jo received the SNOM 2008 School Nurse Administrator of the Year award.
She and her husband have two grown children and two grandchildren. She enjoys traveling, golf, knitting, reading and computer work.
