Celebration of Cultures Potluck Dinner – Thursday, February 16th, 2017
There was a great turnout for our Celebration of Cultures event on Thursday evening. Families brought delicious foods representing countries and cultures all around the world. Ben Dustman, Kids & Co/Playground at Glen Lake, was fantastic in providing the space with great music. We are truly fortunate at Glen Lake to be surrounded by amazing families that hold unique values, beliefs, and traditions.
There are many people to thank for this wonderful event. Thank you to some of our local restaurants for donating food to our event. Famous Dave’s donated pork sandwiches, The Gold Nugget gave a huge tray of their famous macaroni and cheese, and Crossroads Delicatessen donated some very tasty matzo ball soup. Thank you to all the Grizzlies of Glen Lake for making their "tradition" posters that are hanging in the hallway to the cafeteria. Lastly, a thank you to all staff, volunteers, students, and parents who helped set up and clean up after the event.

Imagination Fair – Thursday, March 9. 5:30 – 7:00pm
Imagine what we could learn if we all came together for one day and shared our best inventions, ideas, experiments and knowledge. Part science fair, part county fair, and part something entirely new, we invite the tech enthusiasts, crafters, tinkerers, hobbyists, engineers, experimenters, authors, artists and more. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to participate. All classrooms will visit the Imagination Fair during the school day and then families are invited back that evening for the Book Fair & Imagination Fair. A flyer with detailed information and an application is listed under our Electronic Backpack. To participate, fill out the application and return to your teacher. All projects should be brought to school the morning of March 9. Please note this is a late start day. All participants will receive an Outstanding Achievement ribbon. Applications received before March 1 will be entered to win STEM prizes, including a Fire Tablet.
Am I Well Enough to Go to School?
Many illnesses are currently circulating in all grades at Glen Lake. Please review our District Attendance Policy and be sure to keep your children home when they are sick. Keeping your child home for 24 hours fever free (without medication) and 24 hours since last vomiting or diarrhea, can be inconvenient but is necessary to help keep germs from spreading throughout our building. Rest up and hopefully our building will get healthier soon!
